The LYF League partners with USA Football to provide all LYF coaches the opportunity to earn their Tackle Certification, which teaches blocking, tackling, equipment fitting, heat illness prevention, concussion in sports, sudden cardiac arrest and safe sport. The LYF League supports, promotes, and teaches “Heads Up” and rugby-style tackling as safer tackling techniques.
 
IF AN INJURY OCCURS, WHO IS AVAILABLE TO RESPOND?

Licensed sports medicine professionals provided by the Nebraska Orthopedic Center (NOC) are present at all LYF games to provide sports medicine services.
American Red Cross volunteers are present on the sidelines of all LYF games to aid with player safety.
 

DOES THE LYF LEAGUE HAVE INSURANCE?

Yes, the LYF League pays an annual premium to insure all players. For more information on the insurance policy, please contact the LYF League Commissioner.
 

HOW OFTEN DO CONCUSSIONS OCCUR IN LYF PLAYERS?

Although we do not have specific numbers from the LYF League, research indicates that we can expect 0.53 concussions per 1,000 athletes, or about 1 in 2,000.

IS THE EQUIPMENT SAFE?

The LYF League pays to have their equipment professionally tested as recommended by the manufacture each year. Equipment that does not meet the testing specifications is replaced at the League’s expense.
 

ARE THE COACHES SCREENED?

Yes, the LYF League pays to conduct third-party, annual background checks on all coaches.
